A new year is the perfect time for new recipes and fresh goals 💚 S-A-F-E-T-Y May 2026 be filled with blessings and safe, yummy food and awareness for all! At Christmas we celebrate love, faith, and caring for one another especially when we gather together at the table. ❤️🍴 Happy World Coconut Day! 🌴🥥 Did you know Coconut is not a Tree Nut? Botanically, coconut is a fruit, specifically a drupe like olives 🫒 and peaches 🍑. It doesn’t behave like almonds, cashews, or other tree nuts in terms of a tree nut allergy so the FDA in 2025 removed it from “tree nut list”. What this means is that coconut no longer will need the “contains: tree nut” warning label. Older labels might still list it so keep an eye out. Does this make you feel safer using coconut oils in cooking? Will reading baking labels be clearer and easier now? The FDA update confirms coconut is not a tree nut BUT if you have a nut allergy check with your doctor before introducing coconut into your diet! 🚫⛔️ #worldcoconutday #FDAupdate #coconut #allergyfriendly #nutfree School is starting back. Make sure you get all the important school supplies and don’t forget medical alert jewelry. When seconds count, a medical alert necklace can speak for your kid. It helps ensure that teachers and first responders get the info they need fast. #medicalalert #backtoschool #invisibleillness #allergywarrior Asian Cuisine purchased from a restaurant can be full of Peanuts and Tree nuts. Luckily there are safe sauces you can get at your local grocery store. I couldn’t decide on one at the store so I bought both! Tonight we’ll have these Asian Shrimp Bowls from @emeals and I’ll use the other sauce for homemade Orange Chicken, all nut free! This little fellow dropped onto me from the tree I was sitting under on a bench in a courtyard. He is the White-Marked Tussock Moth Caterpillar. One report I saw says he is venomous but others refuted that saying that these caterpillars are neither toxic or venomous but will cause an irritating rash if you handle them. Glad I didn’t touch! Folks with allergies tend to have skin sensitivity too so be on the look out for these critters now that the weather is warmer! #notouch This is an annual tradition of ours, a semi-homemade Nut Free King Cake. We love to celebrate Mardi Gras but most cakes we can buy aren’t safe for Peanut and Tree Nut allergies so we make our own using Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. Easy, yummy and safe!
